Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer

Taryn L. Salmon is responsible for all areas of information technology, including business application management, distributed system support, business intelligence, and information security at Bank of Hawaii. She is also responsible for overseeing data governance, strategic analytics and the bank’s project office.

Ms. Salmon joined the bank in 2019 after more than 20 years of serving in key leadership roles in the information technology industry. Prior to joining the bank, she was senior vice president and director of business technology, digital banking and fraud engineering at Zions Bancorporation. She also previously served as Zions’s senior vice president and director of technology shared services, and as a senior manager and vice president for its Enterprise Architecture & IT Project Management Office. Ms. Salmon also spent four years at Orbital ATK as IT director overseeing its Propulsion Systems Division. Earlier in her career, she worked at ATK Launch Systems for nearly 12 years in a variety of IT leadership positions, including engineering solutions manager, scientific and laboratory application development manager, and project manager.

Ms. Salmon earned her bachelor of science degree in business information systems, with an emphasis in computer science, from Utah State University. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Ms. Salmon is a board member-at-large of the Girl Scouts of Hawaii, and has been a volunteer instructor for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Hour of Code since 2017.
